The Norwegian Shetland Sheepdog
Klubb (NSSK)
|
was founded in
1964, with a membership of just 45. To day we have more than
1000 members, predominantly Norwegians, but we also have members
in- and outside Europe.
NSSK is a club especially for Shetland
Sheepdog owners, and is affiliated to The Norwegian Kennel Club. Being a member in one of these clubs
entitles you to pay the normal show entry fee when entering shows,
otherwise the fee is doubled.
The committe of
NSSK aims to encourage the breeders of Shetland Sheepdogs to
observe the breed standard and to adhere to the code of ethics.
The breed standard
is set by FCI. The Shetland Sheepdog belongs to
FCI's group l, breed number 88, and the standard was last updated
on 24th June 1987.
Each year the NSSK
arrange a show especially for Shetland Sheepdogs, the invited
judges being chosen from the English club lists. In addition
the club arranges obedience shows, puppy shows and veteran shows.
Obedience and Agility
are very popular with Shelties and their owners, and these shows
are a very important part of the club members activities.
NSSK publishes
four magazine every year.
